1 Corinthians 12:1 Now concerning spiritual gifts , brethren, I would not have you ignorant.
I have many questions regaurding gifts of the Holy Spirit. And so this will be a revisited topic of study. There is a lot to cover and recover in 1 Corinthians alone. This is one thing that I have really questioned because for so long I was taught the Spirit is no longer in the world today... I have come to realize this is related to a time study that I am still in the process of understanding myself and figure it'll take years to decide. The time study revolves around the second coming of Christ and again my e-mail is we_r_happy2gether@hotmail.com
2 points tonight quickly... first one is the scripture that has turned what I knew about the gospel upside down and has created 5this moster in me striving to study more and to strive for the truth.
1 Corinthians 13:9-10 9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
To me this is an either or... EITHER that which is perfect has already come and the Spirit is no longer here (and to my belief this is referring to the second coming) OR we are still dealing with the part and his Holy Spirit is still with us.
Second quick point. I have seen preachers that preach use of the Spirit say they can speak in tounges interpret and heal. If your reading this correctly each has one gift... could be wrong again I am still learning
1 Corinthians 12:4-12 4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. 8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. 12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.

My grandma, pictured here with me while she was still alive, is the most Godly woman I have ever known. Always has been my inspiration and embodyment of who I want to be... in that light I want to share my steps to becoming closer to my God the Father and Savior. I am in no way shape or form perfect as you will come to know... this is a growth process. In God's Love... Heather Weatherman
It has been quite a year for me... opening my eyes to more of an insight into God's Love. I have always been a believer, but have grown to know Him on a more personal level. I hope to learn and grow and provide personal ministry while hoping my life, which is not perfect in any means can be helpful to others as they journey on their path...
To me this is connected to the scripture you posted about the Trinity and how we are all members of The Body. I believe that the Spirit works through followers in many different ways. Followers, I believe, are those who seek the Truth and welcome the Spirit into their hearts and minds.
ReplyDeleteI was just discussing with someone this morning the Spirit and he told that he tends to be a bit critical (he is after all a Virgo, he said) and he prayed while addressing a certain situation not to criticize, but to assist the person, despite the fact that inside he was feeling like telling them how stupid he thought what they did was. He said that when he opened his mouth to speak, it was like the words came from somewhere else. He said that they were so graceful and eloquent that he ACTUALLY TRIED TO LOOK DOWN AND SEE HIS LIPS because he swears that someone/thing else was controlling them. Pretty powerful stuff.
