It has been quite a year for me... opening my eyes to more of an insight into God's Love. I have always been a believer, but have grown to know Him on a more personal level. I hope to learn and grow and provide personal ministry while hoping my life, which is not perfect in any means can be helpful to others as they journey on their path...

Book review

Not one focused lesson is running through my mind tonight... I had been told when I was younger that reading the Bible was like reading a good novel... betrayal, love, hate, war, peace, hope, promise... I could continue the list but we get the idea. So on that note of a thousand thoughts here is a few lil highlights into the novel that I had trouble putting down tonight.

Genesis 19:5-8 And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them. 6 And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him, 7 And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly. 8 Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.

Wow what a dad... I wish my dad had told the neighborhood rapest to have their way with me... NOT... thanks dad for allowing no such thing!

Genesis 19:17-19 And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain,
lest thou be consumed. 18 And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my Lord: 19 Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die:

Ermm.. you choose to live in a town where not one single person was not wallowing in their own mire. Because of your brother Abraham your life was spared after he asked God to spare your life. God does and your still trying the call the shots? I woulda smote you dead if you woulda opened your mouth to question me!

Genesis 25:5-6 And Abraham gave all that he had unto Isaac. 6 But unto the sons of the concubines, which Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts, and sent them away from Isaac his son, while he yet lived, eastward, unto the east country.

Umm, favortism much?

Oh and last but not least... this is why you don't take more than one wife...

Genesis 30:14-16  And Reuben went in the days of wheat harvest, and found mandrakes in the field, and brought them unto his mother Leah. Then Rachel said to Leah, Give me, I pray thee, of thy son's mandrakes. 15 And she said unto her, Is it a small matter that thou hast taken my husband? and wouldest thou take away my son's mandrakes also? And Rachel said, Therefore he shall lie with thee to night for thy son's mandrakes. 16 And Jacob came out of the field in the evening, and Leah went out to meet him, and said, Thou must come in unto me; for surely I have hired thee with my son's mandrakes. And he lay with her that night.

  1. It is amazing, the stuff that happened then. I can't imagine a guest coming before a daughter; especially a guest that was more than able to defend himself! lol And, by the by...That is a lovely picture. Thank God for those good examples He gave us before and while we find Him.

  2. Funny stuff. I don't know, though. The quasi-feminist in me squirms and has a very hard time accepting how women were treated back then. What gives?
