It has been quite a year for me... opening my eyes to more of an insight into God's Love. I have always been a believer, but have grown to know Him on a more personal level. I hope to learn and grow and provide personal ministry while hoping my life, which is not perfect in any means can be helpful to others as they journey on their path...

In the eye of the beholder

Genesis 31:34-35 Now Rachel had taken the images, and put them in the camel's furniture, and sat upon them. And Laban searched all the tent, but found them not. 35 And she said to her father, Let it not displease my lord that I cannot rise up before thee; for the custom of women is upon me. And he searched, but found not the images.

If you are lost... she stole golden images of her father's and his them. Then lied using custom to keep seated where she hid them.

Yah know... I'm not so sure about Racheal... beauty is only skin deep? This is the woman who became jelous that her sister was able to bear kids so she sent her handmaiden into Jacob's bed for her. As a woman whom is barren I understand her pain but allowing yet another woman to come into the mix and share her husbands bed? And I thought the men nuts.

Genesis 30:1-3 And when Rachel saw that she bare Jacob no children, Rachel envied her sister; and said unto Jacob, Give me children, or else I die. 2 And Jacob's anger was kindled against Rachel: and he said, Am I in God's stead, who hath withheld from thee the fruit of the womb? 3 And she said, Behold my maid Bilhah, go in unto her; and she shall bear upon my knees, that I may also have children by her.

This is also a woman who decided that Jacob would sleep with Leah all because of mandrakes, this I mentioned yesturday. Clearly this woman ran the house.

Don't get me wrong I am still reading this story and if I am wrong as I continue to read I will change my lesson, delete it, admit I was wrong,  etc... but from what I gather so far Jacob clearly loved her, but I have not read yet where Racheal loved him as much as Leah did. Leah continued to strive for Jacobs love.

Genesis 29:32 And Leah conceived, and bare a son, and she called his name Reuben: for she said, Surely the Lord hath looked upon my affliction; now therefore my husband will love me.

In the end... when he was buried he had asked to be buried with Leah whom was buried in the tomb of his father and mother. In the end she may have been the one that earned his respect.

Genesis 49:29-31 29 And he charged them, and said unto them, I am to be gathered unto my people: bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite, 30 In the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field of Ephron the Hittite for a possession of a buryingplace. 31 There they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife; there they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife; and there I buried Leah.
