Servitude

Titus 2:9-10 9  Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things ; not answering again; 10 Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.

God allowed Isreal to be taken captive and to be held as servants in other lands, slaves if you will. We often view slavery evil, as morally wrong. Especially in a land where we view slavery as a taboo we forget it has been a part of the human nature since the begining.

Abraham himself (for a quick example which is seen many times) had servants...

Genesis 24:34-35  And he said, I am Abraham's servant. 35 And the Lord hath blessed my master greatly; and he is become great: and he hath given him flocks, and herds, and silver, and gold, and menservants, and maidservants, and camels, and asses.

But there was a responsability that the master had. The servants were a part of the household. Lodging and food and proper treatment.

Colossians 4:1 Masters, give unto your servants that which is just and equal; knowing that ye also have a Master in heaven.

Just some things to think of, times are changing and while I am not trying to dive into politics it's just a reminder tht servants also have a duty to teach others through proper servitude.

2 Kings 21:10 And the Lord spake by his servants

While we may have earthly duties, our Master is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

John 13:13 Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.
