Sooo we know that Abraham had such a huge amount of faith that he was willing to sacrific Isaac when God told him to...
Genesis 22:2 And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.
Genesis 22:9-10 And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood. 10 And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.
And I knew he made mistakes... I knew he questioned God's promise to make him a father of a great nation through his wife Sarah, we talked about the mistake of bedding his wife's maid. I knew that he had lied about his wife to save his life obviously not trusting in God's promise because obviuosly if God was going to make him father of a great nation God would save his life... duh.
Genesis 20:2 And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister: and Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah.
But in my reading I ran across this story about this happening with Abimelech...... after he already went through this with Pharoah
Genesis 12:11-13 And it came to pass, when he was come near to enter into Egypt, that he said unto Sarai his wife, Behold now, I know that thou art a fair woman to look upon: 12 Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Egyptians shall see thee, that they shall say, This is his wife: and they will kill me, but they will save thee alive. 13 Say, I pray thee, thou art my sister: that it may be well with me for thy sake; and my soul shall live because of thee.
It begs to question, why did God not wash His hands of Abraham saying you haven't enough faith and now my covenant with you is broken. How stupid could Abraham be? In fact how many times did Isreal get chances? How stupid...... can I be? How many time do I have to do the same thing till I learn... how many times must He wait for me to learn my lessons?
If hew let Abraham develop his faith does he not do the same for us?

My grandma, pictured here with me while she was still alive, is the most Godly woman I have ever known. Always has been my inspiration and embodyment of who I want to be... in that light I want to share my steps to becoming closer to my God the Father and Savior. I am in no way shape or form perfect as you will come to know... this is a growth process. In God's Love... Heather Weatherman
It has been quite a year for me... opening my eyes to more of an insight into God's Love. I have always been a believer, but have grown to know Him on a more personal level. I hope to learn and grow and provide personal ministry while hoping my life, which is not perfect in any means can be helpful to others as they journey on their path...
INDEED! Thank goodness we are in His image and have the ability to be patient with ourselves and others. Ability, I said...that doesn't mean that we're always great at it. That's another lesson I guess.
ReplyDeleteSide note: Do you know that kangaroos have three stages of birth? Once a kidney-sized baby is born it must come out and make it's own way up to the mother's pouch and find a teat to suckle on until it's developed enough to be born later from the pouch. Then, of course, the baby Joey goes in and out of the pouch until the mom says, and I quote, "You're too big for this now sucker, hop on."
Furthermore, her body is always making babies. A fertilized egg will lay dormant until the one in the pouch is becoming a joey, or, if the mother is too lean it will wait to develop until she has enough nourishment for it.
Also, there are 4 teats inside the pouch that provide different milk for the various stages of development. Amazing! How does the baby know to climb up and in the pouch and which teat to start with? How does a fertilized EGG know to wait until the time is right?
BIG BANG THEORY MY BIG BUTT!
Hahaha thank you for that info! AMAZING! And thank you for posting comments... it makes me feel less alone in here
ReplyDeleteLook what I discovered today... Isaac did the exact same silly thing!
ReplyDeleteGenesis 26:6-7 KJV
6 And Isaac dwelt in Gerar: 7 And the men of the place asked him of his wife; and he said, She is my sister: for he feared to say, She is my wife; lest, said he , the men of the place should kill me for
Rebekah; because she was fair to look upon.
I'm sorry, but if my husband got me raped, I'D KILL HIM!
